This review is for a *TAKEOUT* order and is specific for that, not dining in. My mother is wheelchair bound now and wanted Mexican food and to see her grandchildren, so we picked up some Plaza Azteca on the way.  I ordered it for takeout online via Yelp, which they goes through Grubhub. But you still go and pick it up yourself, not delivery. These are important points to consider for this review, as you still see. I ordered one combo dinner, and 3 orders of loaded chicken nachos. I specified a pickup up time of 5:00pm. I placed the order about 4pm. It then said the order will be ready to pickup between 5:00 and 5:20. We arrived 5:00 sharp, not wanting the orders to sit long. And when I picked them up at 5:00 sharp, the food already felt room temperature. So it had already been sitting for quite awhile... We were eating it only about 10 minutes later, and it was basically cold. Now, I can tell you the toppings were flavorful and plenty. Good chicken, lots of pico. THE PROBLEM was all the tortilla chips at the bottom had become totally soggy and gelled into a gluggy solid lump.  It was still edible, but definitely not "nachos". I will order them again, but next time, forgo Grubhub and call them directly to place the takeout order with s much more accurate and specific pickup time. You want it hot out of the oven.

SALTY. This place over-salts their food tremendously. My meal was overall just ok, nothing spectacular. The restaurant needs some updating. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was coming off the wall and the sink was broken. Nothing about this place was spectacular. The chips and salsa were pretty good, but that's about it.

Salsa tasted like a can of plain tomatoe sauce, the white sauce tasted like they opened a jar of miracle whip and spooned into serving bowl, chips stale. Margarita watered down no flavor. One of the worse Mexican restaurant experiences.

Tableside Guac is usually excellent.  Inconsistent otherwise, and no available quality bartenders for lunchtime on weekends.  If you can't get a decent margarita on Saturday at a 2pm lunch at a Mexican restaurant, WTF?  Going to Jessy's on the Boulevard, and Jose Tequila's Strawbridge now.

Why 3 Stars this is 5 star quality.

I've eaten here 5x's.  On a busy Friday, during the weekend, and numerous times in the week.  Service is always fast, excellent, and beyond my expectation.  The 3 stars given is not the Plaza I know and even made me afraid to come on my first visit.

I have a Plaza Azteca just 800 meters from where I live but I come all the way to this one because the food is always cooked to perfection, they give plenty of servings (I order fajitas), and seating is never limited.  Even when they are busy, the food and service excels other places.  Additionally, for me who only eats Vegetables and Proteins they have an a la cart menu with grilled veggies, grilled mushrooms, or an avocado for cheap ($3-5).  Then when the Fajitas come out (Ive had them all: seafood, steak, pork, chicken and vegetarian), I am amazed at all they give.  Others skrimp on this but Plaza Azteca on Laskin is by far the best and worth the 15 minutes from my home bypassing the other one and plethora of eateries.
